Imperial Hotel query

I AM anxious to find as much information as possible about the old Imperial Hotel which later became the Malvern Girls' College. There was a hotel and boarding house directory issued by Ward & Lock and Co, in 1898-9 but this hotel was not included and as Ward & Lock and Co are no longer in existence, I wonder if you know of any other similar publication which may have advertised the Imperial Hotel, Malvern, preferably showing a photograph of the frontage.   more...

A childish myth

YOUR correspondent, Brian Stowe (Your Letters, April 9) is correct when he describes a state of declining morals in the UK but he is wrong to place the blame on what he calls the liberal Humanist state. Far better that he try to understand that so long as the church continues to insist on the existence of God then church attendance will continue to fall and Judaeo/Christian religious teachers, both in and out of school, will have no effect on the attitudes of our children or their parents.   more...

I WANT to say how much we enjoyed the football played at Langlands Stadium on Sunday, May 2. We only saw the final between Newtown Sports Colts and Newtown Sports Juniors. THE April walk of Staunton & District Rambling Club was true to form with very heavy storms, but they managed to get the walk in during a reasonably dry spell. Clive Jakeman and Flash led the walk through the mud and puddles, making their way to the top of May Hill. There was a mass of spring flowers and the leaves were unfurling as they walked through the wood. After a short break, leaving quickly because of the gathering storm, the ramblers traversed the north end side of the hill through some bluebells and the last of the daffodils and an increasing variety of bird song, arriving at the Yew Tree car park just as the clouds broke with a very heavy storm.   more...
