Diving in for a birthday party

From the Droitwich Advertiser, first published Monday 2nd Jun 2008.

CHESSGROVE Swim, a specialist swimming school in Hanbury, held a birthday party to celebrate its first year in business and to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.

Children were invited to bring their families along to a party in a marquee with a bouncy castle and slide, farm animals and party games. Parents had the opportunity to unwind in the evening by swimming in the Chessgrove pool and relaxing in the thermal suite at Chessgrove Day Spa. Staff from Chessgrove Swim also took part in a sponsored run/cycle around the neighbouring villages.

"The parties were our way of saying thank you to our customers for supporting Chessgrove Swim over the last year," said owner Ian Few.

"It was also an opportunity to recognise our achievement in setting up this unique business and we are delighted that the day raised over £400 for St Richard's Hospice."

Alison Weston, the hospice's community fundraiser, said: "We are very grateful to Chessgrove Swim for supporting St Richard's in this way. Every penny raised in the community helps us to provide our free services to patients and families living with cancer and other life-threatening illness."
